Exploring Cornwall, St Michael’s Mount & St Ives

by thelifestylelady May 12, 2018

Howdy Y’all,

We are still enjoying our trip and have been generally lucky with the weather. Today I am sharing a vlog on St Michael’s Mount and St Ives, this day was special because my brother joined us with his new wife. I am one to appreciate these special days with my family. It has been wonderful to relive their wedding with them.  I am so enjoying the Cornish countryside  and have not slept so well  for so long. I hope you are enjoying the vlogs and I have been thrilled with the positive feedback.

Happy weekends friend,

Kx

Exploring Cornwall Perranport & Trerice

by thelifestylelady May 11, 2018

Howdy Y’all,

Happy Friday, can not quite believe it is the weekend once again, I am amazed that this time one week ago my brother was getting married. Time moves so fast and I am constantly having to remind myself to take a moment to absorb where my life is at the moment. I swear that Little L has grown in the brief time we have been away. So far we have been fortunate with the weather in Cornwall, on this day we were expecting rain so decided that we would hit the beach first to let Little L build sandcastles and then explore some more later in the day. It doesn’t matter how often I come to Cornwall I am always staggered by her beauty.

Enjoy

Visiting France – The Gers

by thelifestylelady May 3, 2018

Howdy Y’all,

How are you? I am not going to lie I am exhausted but am running on adrenalin, last night family lifestyle returned from a visit to see Mr L’s parents in France. Have you ever been to France? I am fortunate to have been quite a lot in my life and seen more than most, whilst some of the greats like Paris, Cannes, St Tropez, Normandy and The Loire are picturesque there is much beauty to be found in the quieter, less well known areas. This visit we went to The Gers, a hidden gem in the French Countryside. The Gers region is about 20 miles outside Toulouse and not far from the Pyrenees. It is not heavily populated and displays French countryside almost untouched by modernization. It provides breathtaking scenery, delicious cuisine and very drinkable wine (what more could you need.) I hope to do a much more detailed post with pictures (if you are interested?) at a later date, but today wanted to share with you a brief vlog of our trip. Please note I am new to all this so do not expect Spielberg quality, it is also not easy to capture footage with a four year old.

Enjoy!

Howdy Y’all!

by thelifestylelady September 1, 2016

Howdy Y’all,

Long time no speak, sorry I have been out of action, but life has been action packed offline this summer. I did think this would be the case,  I don’t want you to think that the blog and you the reader are not important to me, YOU ARE. Actually some of the sadder events this summer have made me realize how important the blog is to me. It is a  creative outlet for me to share myself in another capacity other than wife and mother. It is safe to say that July was my mense horrendam. Just one sad or tough thing after another.  I am not one to let things get me down but sometimes you just get beat.

August was brighter and I was particularly enjoying spending the last quiet weeks with Little L before she started pre-school. So I find myself for the first time in three years with a little more time on my hands and plenty of dreams. One thing I know is that a mum can be very efficient with  limited time without their child, you would be amazed what we can achieve, but I have to be realistic that the dreams probably outweigh the few hours of freedom I find myself with. I do hope to channel some of this freedom in the blogs direction.

If you are familiar with The Lifestyle Lady you will notice some minor changes. The first is a new email subscription request, this will enable you to be notified when new blog posts arrive or I update the blog and also you will receive my newsletter which will contain exclusive content not seen on the blog, (WOW.) I have also been playing with the layout, I’m not totally happy yet so this maybe subject to change once again (but that is a women’s perogative right?!) Finally I list all the ways you can contact and follow me on social media.

High Five Monday – August

by thelifestylelady August 9, 2015

Howdy Y’all!

How was your weekend? Mine was quiet and relaxed, I got some “me” time courtesy of Mr L (hope it might result in my first Vlog but lets not get carried away…)  More excitingly, a dear friend of mine was celebrating the safe arrival of her beautiful baby whom I had the great pleasure to meet. It’s amazing that Little L used to be that small, where does the time go? (that is a rhetorical question, since this is not a Stem blog!) So this weeks high five is all about August and things that make it great. If you live in a place that gets super hot as we do, August can begin to get you down. It can be quite limiting, especially with energetic toddlers, but behind all clouds is that silver lining so I wanted to celebrate that with August.

August

  1. The Weather, don’t scream at me for this, especially those of you who, like me, fantasize about rain. I am not a sun worshipper and never have been; don’t really have the complexion for it. This was never such a problem when I lived in the UK as it was such a rarity to see the sun (even in August.) The heat in Texas in August is no laughing matter: it gets road-melting hot! So that often means being outside a little less – unless of course you can use a pool. I am thankful because the weather has caused the L family to use the pool and enjoy more family time. We also spend time together in Little L’s play area, compensating for the fact we want to be outside at the park. It has also caused me to focus on tweaking areas of the house which needed sorting, which I would be more reluctant to do if the weather was more agreeable.
  2. Travel, August is one of the most popular months for travel. Whether it’s to get out of the heat, find more of it, or enjoy it in more pleasant circumstances, August is travel time. I love to travel, but I don’t love travel and I don’t know many who do, especially with a toddler. Travel to me is a form of education and I cannot get enough. It really is a treat to immerse and expose yourself to new cultures and experiences. With school vacations being in August this makes it prime time for holidaying/vacationing. Since Little L is not at school yet, we might shoot for a vacation in the next few months.
  3. Shopping, yay August is a fantastic month for shopping and sales, in particular large expensive purchases. If you are looking to book flights for Thanksgiving or Festive Season, it is widely alleged that you will receive the best prices in August. So come on BOOK. If you are looking for a new automotive (I’ll have an Aston Martin please Mr L), August is your month. The industry is preparing for the new season models so great deals on older models. Patio furniture and grills are a summer staple in any climate. You can get great deals on these items in August and still get plenty of use for the remaining season. Do not even get me started on storage and organizational sales.
  4. Back to school time. This is bittersweet but I am putting this one out there for my mama friends who have kiddies of school age. A combination of heat and a bored child means that the beginning of the school season can be a blessing. In the US the majority of kids head back in August and in Europe preparations for an early September start will be underway. We all need the normalcy of getting back to the routine. Children back at school means Little L and I will start back with our usual routine classes.
  5. Sport, Football is here again. Now this a ridiculous statement from me, sport not really a LL thing, but over the summer I have educated myself in five seasons of Friday Night Lights, so I am an expert! Sport is such a big deal in Texas I have decided one of my mini resolutions is to learn more about it. Many of my dear female friends love sport (baseball in particular) and I do not want to be left behind. So, much to Mr L’s delight, I am educating him in US football. After all “Clear Eyes, Full hearts, Can’t Lose.”

High Five August.

What do you like about August? Leave me a comment?

Good Morning, please don’t let her words and the other female warriors who came before her be in vain. Don’t just remember her and others by watching the documentaries and passing platitudes, respect them in action. Women died, starved and were tortured so we could have a seat at the table. Some women are still fighting for the right! Let’s honor them today whichever side you fall. Vote!! #vote #vote2020 #suffragette #womensuffrage #election2020

Today on the blog I get personal and share the dilemma which too many of us are facing and which is keeping me up at night, what to do when there is no clear direction? As mothers we are meant to have the answers, our children look to us for strength and guidance, what to do when we don’t? Please pop over to www.thelifestylelady.com and have a read and let me know what your planning to do. I know that we are all in this together. This sums it up. Keep going friends. 2020 has challenged every single one of us in ways we could never comprehend, for some we can’t see any light at the end of the tunnel. Events are demonstrating the best and worst of mankind, if like me your having to make tough decisions about school and what to do, you are not alone. I feel stuck between a brick and a hard place. What I intend to do is what I know, get up, keep going and throw on a bright lip! Keep smiling friends x #thelifestylelady #2020sucks #school
Yesterday we celebrated 10 years of marriage, no mean feat by today’s statistics. It was not the celebration or in the place where we had planned, but if Covid has taught me anything it’s that we are not in charge and can not control everything . It is not the bells and whistles that make the most sacred of memories. I am not one for big declarations of affection (sorry y’all,) I share simply this, I got lucky, I married a man I looked up too and respect. He doesn’t need to tell you what a good egg he is because he demonstrates it in his everyday unassuming way. He is a gentleman in all ways. Our decade has not been all plain sailing, we have moved more than some people vote, we have laughed more than we have cried and there has been reason for both. We had our beautiful daughter and although the path was not as easy or as we imagined we are a family. Life rarely goes the way you plan, case in point currently, but it’s a hell of a lot easier with a partner who is always you greatest ambassador and champion. Love like life is a journey and I am glad to do it with you. Happy Anniversary Mr L! #thelifestylelady #marriage #love #anniversary
With a summer where travel is looking impossible, you feel a little homesick, but Granny to the rescue is sending pics of her beloved garden. One of my favorite things about summer in Britain is the beautiful gardens and my mummy’s is no exception. She has always been green fingered, she will say she is not, but here are some highlights and everything has yet to bloom. Can you sympathize with my yearning for home? #grannysgarden #greenfingers #gardenofengland #gardening #home #thelifestylelady
