Howdy Y’all,
It will be NO surprise to the majority that I LOVE flowers, (who doesn’t?) After all I named my daughter after one. What is not to love about a Rose? Today though I want to talk about another flower I love almost as much and definitely couldn’t name any future child after, Hydrangea.
I am not sure what it is about these beautiful flowers which makes me go school girl giddy but they do. They, like roses, are very poignant to me. They have shared many of my happy and treasured moments and are often what I turn to when I need to cheer my home or self up. I love them as gifts, especially in plant form because they often last so much longer than stemmed flowers. Unlike roses where I have definite color preferences with hydrangea’s I love them all.
I am really enjoying their presence in my local grocery stores and although not as cheap to buy as in the UK (yes something in the UK is cheaper) their price is not much more than a bunch of roses. I know plants and flowers are a treat but for me they are the treat that keeps giving, brightening up the most mundane of spaces provided you remember to 💦.
I mentioned earlier that I am an advocate of the plant form. They certainly last longer, although I have not had as much success drying them out from plants as cut stems. Anyone got green fingers and can drop me some tips? When is the right time to dry? If you have not seen dried hydrangea heads they are beautiful and look stunning in an arrangement on your coffee or dining table. Mummy L is an expert.
I thought I would share with you some pics of hydrangea’s, one or two are from my wedding and others are current plants I have inside my home. I had no chance keeping my hydrangea’s alive outside in this heat. I chose hydrangea’s to go on the end of each pew in the church when I got married (church 1 from 4 weddings if you have seen the movie, and no Hugh Grant.) I love the simplicity but they make a statement. See what you think. I’m enjoying having them in my home, they bring color and a little of the English country garden to my life. Hope you enjoy the pictures and they make you smile as they do me.
Ta Ta for now

The beautiful, movie famous village church where I grew up, I wanted the architecture to be paramount and I think the beautiful hydrangea enhances that.
