Fall Favorites Friday – Handbags

by thelifestylelady September 4, 2015

Howdy Y’all,

Have I mentioned before my small penchant for all things handbag and purse? Now I am one fussy customer in this field and my passion although expensive is very contained. I don’t love that many bags but when I do I fall hard. Are you the same way? I have some lovely bags, but I am less inclined to use them currently as sippy cup stains and wet wipe marks are not the easiest thing to remove from leather interiors. So I wanted to keep this fairly brief but below are pictures of my dream closet of bags!

Leave me a comment of what I have missed out or other bags I should be salivating over!!

Happy Weekend.

Dream Collection

Bags from left to right:-

Mulberry Bayswater  I confess to owning two of these. One I bought second-hand and the other a gift and  I can quite honestly say they get better with age. The craftsmanship and the quality of the leather is everything you would expect from a company like Mulberry. I own a few other Mulberry products and have never been disappointed. I would like to own the chocolate color one day, who wouldn’t? Brown is so versatile and I find a more flattering, softer option to the ever popular black. I have used mine so much, it’s small enough to use as an everyday purse but large enough to use as airplane carry on (pre-child) or work bag to carry iPad etc.The design is timeless and would suit everyone. I will use mine for a good while yet and I hope to pass down to Little L, they really are an inheritance piece.

Prada Saffiano Lux Double-Zip Tote This bag is one of my newest desire, there are many other designers who have similar styles. Tory Burch springs to mind. I really love the look of this Prada bag. So elegant and smart. Would be a great accompaniment to a working closet. I am told the zip compartments hold an iPad perfectly. Not sure how versatile it would be for a young mummy but I could stare at it thinking of a past self. The colors this bag comes in are beautiful also. The blue is stunning. Maybe one day.

Hermes 30cm Cognac Tan Leather Birkin Bag This to me is the bag to end all bags. I am in love with everything about it. It says simply class and elegance. The color Cognac Tan for me also says class and this is the most timeless piece. It’s simply a shame that the price tag is so extreme. A gal can dream or win the lotto.

Chloe Drew Mini Bag This another LL newbie but I love it. To me it’s a more modern-day take on the Chanel classic. It comes in a variety of colors but I liked the cream. Would be a beautiful evening bag or summer bag. I love the gold accessories.  It is a small bag but looks like it could hold a little more than a credit card. Do hope Chloe will keep this style around for some time yet.

LV Neverfull GM The perfect tote, comes in all LV prints. Timeless piece. Great size and could be the excellent compromise piece as a diaper bag, practicality vs style for those mummies who sometimes want to feel a little more stylish. Also great if like me you want to cart everything but the kitchen sink around with you. I do not own one but have always wanted to. If your thinking of investing in a designer bag you can’t ever go to wrong with any of the LV collection.

Chanel Classic Medium Double Flap Bag Similar to the Birkin but more affordable but we are still speaking big bucks. This bag is a timeless classic. I think Audrey Hepburn, Princess Grace, Princess Diana the list goes on of classy women who would have owned a bag like this. To me this is the epitome of evening bags. The gold chain, the quilted black leather and the elegance associated with a Chanel makes this an absolute staple amongst the classy rich and famous. It makes me think of St John clothing and ladies who know what style, sophistication and elegance really is.

Samorga Shout Out

by thelifestylelady August 5, 2015

Howdy Y’all,

Happy hump day. It is nearly the weekend :0) So if you read my blog you know it’s Organizational August in the Lifestyle household, meaning we are tackling projects and ensuring the house is running well as we step into the Fall/Autumn. I remember having a conversation with a group of women about handbags/purses, now this is a conversation I love. Bags/purses are a weakness of this LL, however the lady who was speaking was talking of an analogy which holds true to me and I think of often. She explained how her handbag/purse represented her, her state of mind and how her life was running. For example, if her bag was untidy, disorganized and full of junk, she was pretty sure that’s how her life was operating. Whether your working, running a home, looking after small children or all three; time to keep your bag organized and clear of junk is low on anyones priority scale.

I mentioned earlier I love bags, often the bigger the better, being a taller person the idea of carrying a small clutch has not appealed. One problem area with big purses is that they can become a bottomless pit of sippy cups, old baby wipes, receipts, lipsticks, chewing gum, diapers the list goes on and on. I have always tried bag/purse organizers, and they have often been pretty blah. Never fitted properly, slipped down, the pockets where not large enough, on and on, until about two years ago I discovered Samorga.

it often baffled me that mostly ladies and some gents would fork out a small mortgage to buy designer bags and would not care how the content was stored inside. It seems the people of Samorga agreed with me. I would not describe myself as an ethical shopper, but I do care where and how products I buy are made. I first discovered Samorga on Etsy (YAY) and loved that their products are handmade. Samorga have a wide selection of bag/purse organizers, they even arrange organizers by the style of designer bag/purse you have. So if it is LV or Hermes, Mulberry or Tory Burch, you are almost guaranteed that they have an organizer for you. They also custom make. What I really love about these organizers is that they are made of a heavy felt, so they are sturdy but do not scratch. You can transfer them bag/purse to bag/purse (provided they fit.) I believe for certain bag/purse styles you have a variety of designs, with more or less pockets, depending on your preference. You can select the organizers color many sensible people choose a color which matches the inside of their bag/purse, it has that seamless, meant to be look. I on the other hand choose a pink one as it fits several of my bags and I love pink. My next big purse/bag purchase I may select one with a similar interior color.

The price point of these items is approximately $50-$100, some may feel this is quite steep but when you consider the cost of bag/purses these days and the quality of these products I would say they are a great investment. They have certainly helped me to keep organized. It was a lucky day when I discovered them. I have posted some pictures below of my Samorga both in and out of the bag. I will preface, this was not made for the bag, it happened to fit but I am thrilled with how it sits and looks. You would not believe how much is in the bag, and it does not look full. I love keeping it in the bag/purse when I have another bag/purse in rotation because it helps it keep its shape. This is a wonderful product and I love it. I just want to spread the love and encourage you to get one!

Ta ta for now,

TLL x

Good Morning, please don’t let her words and the other female warriors who came before her be in vain. Don’t just remember her and others by watching the documentaries and passing platitudes, respect them in action. Women died, starved and were tortured so we could have a seat at the table. Today on the blog I get personal and share the dilemma which too many of us are facing and which is keeping me up at night, what to do when there is no clear direction? Please pop over to www.thelifestylelady.com and have a read and let me know what your planning to do. I know that we are all in this together. This sums it up. Keep going friends. 2020 has challenged every single one of us in ways we could never comprehend, for some we can’t see any light at the end of the tunnel. Events are demonstrating the best and worst of mankind, if like me your having to make tough decisions about school and what to do, you are not alone. I feel stuck between a brick and a hard place. What I intend to do is what I know, get up, keep going and throw on a bright lip! Keep smiling friends x #thelifestylelady #2020sucks #school
Yesterday we celebrated 10 years of marriage, no mean feat by today’s statistics. It was not the celebration or in the place where we had planned, but if Covid has taught me anything it’s that we are not in charge and can not control everything . It is not the bells and whistles that make the most sacred of memories. I am not one for big declarations of affection (sorry y’all,) I share simply this, I got lucky, I married a man I looked up too and respect. He doesn’t need to tell you what a good egg he is because he demonstrates it in his everyday unassuming way. He is a gentleman in all ways. Our decade has not been all plain sailing, we have moved more than some people vote, we have laughed more than we have cried and there has been reason for both. We had our beautiful daughter and although the path was not as easy or as we imagined we are a family. Life rarely goes the way you plan, case in point currently, but it’s a hell of a lot easier with a partner who is always you greatest ambassador and champion. Love like life is a journey and I am glad to do it with you. Happy Anniversary Mr L! #thelifestylelady #marriage #love #anniversary
With a summer where travel is looking impossible, you feel a little homesick, but Granny to the rescue is sending pics of her beloved garden. One of my favorite things about summer in Britain is the beautiful gardens and my mummy’s is no exception. She has always been green fingered, she will say she is not, but here are some highlights and everything has yet to bloom. Can you sympathize with my yearning for home? #grannysgarden #greenfingers #gardenofengland #gardening #home #thelifestylelady
