Oscars 2019 Best Dressed

by thelifestylelady February 24, 2019

Howdy Y’all,

Today I bring you TLL roundup of the best dressed of this years Academy Awards. I must start by saying I thought this years dresses were very disappointing, I liked so little. It did confirm to me that award seasons dresses so often look better or the womanly woman, which should be celebrated since it so rarely is in fashion these days. What did we learn? Metallic is going to be huge this season as is color in particular yellow. Pink was on a popular choice in all tones and lavender. There were many looks which were almost there but either the color choice didn’t suit the skin tone or the slit was too high of the neckline too short. The exciting thing about the nine ladies who made the cut is that each dress was by a different designer, which keeps fashion exciting and invigorating. So if you are in the dress market for a gala, ball or event may this inspire you, if not just enjoy. Who did you like?

The Duchess Dress Off

by thelifestylelady June 11, 2018

Howdy Y’all,

Today I wanted to share something fun and that is meant in good taste. On Saturday in London was Trooping the Colour, this is a ceremony performed by all regiments of the British and Commonwealth armies to mark the official birthday of the sovereign HRH The Queen. It is a tradition which began in the 17th Century. It was particularly exciting because it was the first time we got to see HRH Duchess of Sussex with the rest of the Royal Family, since her wedding. I was secretly thrilled because it was one of the first times we would see both Duchess’ in their finery as members of the family. I want to preface that I am not going to make a habit of comparing Kate and Meghan, they are both incredibly beautiful (albeit in different ways) smart and stylish and to me that is where all comparisons should end. They are both Duchess’ with very different destinies and I think that will become more evident as time progresses. I did however think it would be fun today to compare their fashion choices. To summarize I think even their fashion choices on Saturday spoke to their destinies. Nobody could take from Meghan how incredibly beautiful she was as a bride, everything about her choice of dress, accessories the way she walked down the aisle spoke to the modern, confident, informed, ethical Duchess she was becoming and her fashion choice on Saturday said much the same. I also want to cut her a little slack, royal life must be so intimidating and she is handling it like a pro. Kate on the other hand is destined to be a Queen, I thought her choice of outfit for the Royal wedding spoke much to her character. Wearing something she had worn before as not to draw attention displays the thoughtful, poised, elegant, educated, and regal woman she is. I thought her outfit on Saturday shone as she stepped out onto the balcony she projected regality.

HRH Duchess of Sussex

It is difficult to get a full length image of Meghan and this was about the best I can do but it does show us the highlights of the dress/outfit. The dress is by Carolina Herrera and it is effortlessly elegant. The pale pink/nude color compliments Meghan’s skin tone incredibly although the color is very similar to the Goat dress she wore to the Garden Party. I was a little disappointed because I would like to see her in another color. The over jacketor neckline of the dress (not quite sure of the design, )is beautiful. I feel the way her hair is styled sort of spoils the effect and silhouette of the neckline but she looks spectacular. The buttons have a very vintage/80’s vibe as to me does the length of the jacket part. Although I love the design I am not sure is suits Meghan. Like Kate this beautiful woman could make a paper bag look good so I am in no way saying she looks bad. I feel the length of the jacket does her little favors, it sort of flattens her hips and dwarfs her beautiful curves which I think is a shame. She is too petite for that length of jacket. It doesn’t enhance her waist. I also question with the length/lack of sleeve, how appropriate this choice was for the event. I echo again I love the dress but this is a royal event and I fear there might have been a little too much flesh on show so perhaps best that her hair was down. It might have been good to have had a bracelet of something on her wrist with such a short sleeve.

Embed from Getty Images
In contrast to Kate I feel Meghan hits the makeup jackpot each time. I love the natural softness that allow her beauty to shine through. Her soft pink lipstick compliments her outfit color and skin tone perfectly. She has this effortlessness with her makeup and the placement of her contour is amazing. She equally kept her jewelry minimal her decision not to wear a necklace and to allow the outfits neckline to sing was perfect. A slightly bolder earring choice might have been a little more appropriate they are royal after all. I did not feel her hair was appropriate, when wearing a hat ones hair should be back and away from the face, I think Meghan may have regretted it because she was fiddling with it a lot throughout the event. Her Phillip Treacy hat complimented the look but if her hair had been similar to her wedding style, I think the hat would have looked better.

HRH Duchess of Cambridge

Embed from Getty Images
It is difficult to get a full length picture of the Duchess of Cambridge so this will have to work. This is HRH at her finest. The designer for all big events or when HRH wishes to make a statement she turns to her wedding dress designer Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen and Sarah never disappoints. I adore the ice blue colour of this outfit, it compliments the summer day perfectly. It is fresh and eye catching without being loud or bright. The fit and fabric is outstanding. I love the tailored look on Kate it compliments her figure, the modern square neck is softened and made feminine by the puff sleeves and who doesn’t like a bracelet length sleeve? The waist band adds a modern touch and I love how they keep the tailoring simple by having it in the same color and fabric. How is it possible she had a baby only sixish weeks ago????? The nipped waist going into a fuller pleated skirt which adds dimension and balances out her petite shoulders.

Embed from Getty Images

This close up really allows us to see the details of Kate’s hat and jewelry. Her hair is so chic and tidy and allows the beauty of her spectacular hat and the simplicity of the jewelry to shine. This statement hat was spectacular by Milner Juliette Botterill, I always think this style is the most flattering on Kate and what sets is off is the flowers, netting and bow which follow through to the front of the hat. It is millinery masterpiece. Ladies and gentleman this is how one wears their hair when wearing a hat, chic and neat allowing the hat to shine. It is also positioned correctly but still allows us to see the beautiful Duchess. With her hair so neatly off her face you can see her spectacular earrings by Kiki McDonough, they match the outfit color exquisitely and their size is a perfect balance to the hat. They also look regal and are a bolder choice than say wearing a simple stud. Her choice of necklace is also stupendous because the delicacy of it does not fight the neckline and tailoring of the dress. It is also smaller and simpler than the earrings and allows those to be the statement. I love the detail on the chain, it provides balance. This closeup also gives us a chance to look at the Duchess makeup. I will confess I am not the biggest fan on the Duchess’ makeup choices I often find there is little variety to how she does it day/night and I find her eyes a little heavy and dark (sorry Kate!)At this event I thought the makeup complimented her exquisitely, her blush and lip colour were elegant and understated and complimented the ice blue of her outfit. I think the eyemakeup worked also in providing contrast to the hat.

Embed from Getty Images
I added this picture because this bunch generally scrub up very well and I just love the Queen, she certainly stands out on the balcony in her blue. So elegant and poised for a lady of 92.

Whose outfit did you prefer? What are your thoughts on Kate and Meghan? I would love to know.

Have a fab week friends.

My Fashion Favorites of The Royal Wedding

by thelifestylelady May 22, 2018

Howdy Y’all,

Well what a wonderful weekend that was, it makes me so proud to see my country displayed in so much pomp and pageantry. It is something we do so well. The God’s were with us and sent the most beautiful day and when the sun shines with a backdrop like Windsor, fairytales really do come true. Today I am sharing a few of my favorite looks from the wedding. I can honestly say I don’t think I have seen such exciting fashion choices since Diana days. I genuinely was beaming at the beautiful dresses worn, everyone came with their A game. There is nothing like a Royal Wedding to set trends and since we are at the beginning of the wedding season I wanted to share some of the themes I noticed.

  1. Pale Pink. This was by far the most popular color choice or perhaps it was the color chosen by the most fashionable women which is a winner. It is such a soft and romantic color and would be perfect if you have a summer wedding coming up.
  2. Strong Color, in contrast to the pale and softness of the pink, we did see strong gem colors, there was plenty of purple, emerald green and viridian. I did wonder if guests were expecting a colder, greyer day. May can be a difficult month in the UK as the weather is so changeable. It can be gorgeous one and like winter the next. If you have a fall or winter wedding these styles would be fantastic.
  3. Embroidered and Hand Painted Dresses. These were so eye-catching and beautiful, it also could probably be worn all year round.

I now will share some of the best looks of the wonderful day:-

Pippa Middleton

Outfit: The Fold.

Loved this look, it was Spring in  a dress. The color, the pattern was breathtaking, the mint green was so fresh and the blossom design screamed May in England. The style, the way it fit just spoke to a modern elegance. In true Pippa style it was the whole look which was mesmerizing, her hat was chic and neat and shoes modern and fun all finished with a simple clutch. Class act.

Embed from Getty Images

Pretty Pink Dress

A trend amongst the female guests was pale pink, this female guest who I apologize I do not know showed us how to dress for a beautiful spring wedding. I loved the bracelet length sleeve, the dress’s midi length and of course it’s color. The simple design fit in with the wedding theme and supported the less is more theory. Her cream hat and chignon hair style just oozed class.
Embed from Getty Images

Jacinda Barrett and Gabriel Macht

Outfit: Emilia Wickstead

These two were one of my best dressed couples, I adored the strong color. The way Gabriel matches her dress with his tie choice is romantic and a lovely touch. It is elegant and demur but has a modern look without being frumpy. My only slight complaint is her hair which I would have preferred to see tied up,  it would have shown off the beautiful shoulder details of the dress. What a handsome couple.
Embed from Getty Images
HRH Countess of Wessex

Outfit: Suzanne.

HRH showed women in their fifties how to dress, I loved this not simply because it was so different to anything else, but it was one of the most fashion forward and interesting outfits of the day. Surprisingly the pale blue and grey color was worn by few others. What I thought was bold was the length of the skirt, we didn’t see much midi/long length outfits, the fabric of the skirt with a slight shimmer which shone and twinkled in the sunshine and the texture/pattern of the top. She accessorized with a simple hat and her hair beautifully styled in a pleat. Again she kept the bag and shoes simple so the outfit shined. HRH rocked this look.
Embed from Getty Images

Sarah Rafferty & Santtu Seppala

Outfit by Lanvin

Arguably one of the most attractive couples to attend, I liked her outfit although the navy did look a little dark/hard for the beautiful May sunshine, it did compliment her hair. I enjoyed her more fashion forward approach the sleeve and stud detail. I loved the netting over her face and the proportion of the hat was perfect in contrast to the sleeves. I had to mention her husband who looked sublime and displayed morning dress as its finest.
Embed from Getty Images

Another Beautiful Pink Dress

Another lady who I thought looked stunning in pale pink, the dress was simple, elegant and appropriate for the chapel setting. I like the hat although I felt it fought the bag I think carrying a simple clutch might have made the look more styled. Although I am a proponent of hair up when wearing a hat or fascinator I think this women carries it off. Very elegant.
Embed from Getty Images

Serena Linley

I wish to call this the Out of Africa outfit as it has a Safari feel. I chose this because again I felt it was very different and I loved the fuller skirt look of it. The proportions of the belt with the collar works beautifully and compliments her figure. I would have liked to see it in another color. I also like her more traditional hat choice although it did fight the collar of the coat a little.
Embed from Getty Images

A Classic Look

Again an unknown guest but a lady who knows how to dress. I adore a coat dress and this is so elegant. The color was so on trend in the pale pink and the fit upon her exquisite. I love the length and the slightly puffed sleeve, what I thinks also works is her hat, it compliments without fighting the look which just adds to the understated elegance. The button detail of the coat into the fuller skirt is beyond beautiful. She should be smiling because this was one of my fav looks of the day. This look will never date. Classy lady.
Embed from Getty Images

Kitty Spencer

Outfit: Dolce and Gabanna

Well this beauty could not look more like her aunt, (Diana.) Everything about this look is breathtaking and this is not a color I would normally love. Her makeup is beyond stunning and the dress just fits her body like a glove, the color choice and fabric could make it look frumpy but the modern shape and hand painted design make it modern and fresh. Her hair and hat are elegant and the netting over her face just looks stunning. She makes the look fun and youthful with the orange and velvet bag and can we take a moment to look at the necklace, simple beautiful.
Embed from Getty Images

Countess Spencer

Not to be outdone by her step-daughter Countess Spencer was one of the first to arrive for the wedding and she for me set the tone for the fashion stakes. The color might have been a little dark for the occasion but the bracelet length sleeve counter balanced it. She screamed sophistication and elegance. I loved the cape style but might not have wanted to sit behind her in that hat, not sure how much you would be able to see.
Embed from Getty Images

Amal Clooney

Outfit: Stella McCartney

This seems to have been for most, the best dressed, I liked it but didn’t feel it was the best dressed. The color suited her complexion but I felt the design combined with the beautiful back detail/sash swamped her tiny frame, I think it might have looked better on a fuller figure. The hat was beautiful with the veil/netting but she did continually fidget with her hair throughout which suggested to me she was uncomfortable. It was a beautiful look and she does have George on her arm, although I think George might have looked better in a darker color.
Embed from Getty Images

Marcus Mumford & Carrie Mulligan

Beautiful couple and she resonated with another fashion trend of the wedding the embroidered dress, they both looked happy and comfortable. I did think the black sash added a more modern edge and provided a contrast to the feminine sleeves and dress design.
Embed from Getty Images

Pink Dress

Another unknown but very stylish guest the pale pink dress and the hat look sublime . A total contrast to the lady in the navy whose dress is too short. The neckline on the pink dress is to die for and the flower detail on the hat is exquisite.
Embed from Getty Images

Sofia Wellesley and James Blunt

Outfit: Valentino

This might be my best dressed lady. What more needs to be said, it sings to spring and the embroidered dress trend. The little details like the collar and sleeve frill add interest. It it is so feminine and she accessorized it simply so the dress was central. It was so different, bold and pretty. I am sure this is a love/hate look but I loved loved loved it.
Embed from Getty Images

Abigail Spencer and Priyanka Chopra

Outfit: Alessandra Rich and Vivienne Westwood

Firstly I loved the vintage feel of the spotty dress with the little collar, the hat, bag, belt and shoes all fitted the look. It was so different to anything else, it was so fun and flirty but still looked demur and appropriate. It was a fantastic example of showing your personality and style in a fun way.

Priyanka’s suit blew me away, it was a modern take on a traditional suit. The fit and color was stunning, the hat even complimented that beautiful neckline. The shoes I was less keen on, but overall she was one of the front runners for best dressed.
Embed from Getty Images

Serena Williams

Outfit: Versace

Serena looked simply beautiful, again in pale pink but she showed ladies how to dress curves. I was not mad about the necklace but loved her hair back and the way she let the dress be central. Beautiful work.
Embed from Getty Images

The Middleton Family

Very little to say about this stylish and elegant family. They show us all how to do it. Carol Middleton exudes the mantra of “if it aint broke” by wearing a dress/coat combo from Catherine Walker as she did for both her daughters. The mint green spoke to spring and looked effortless and age appropriate. The men look super.
Embed from Getty Images
Julia Carey and James Corden

Outfit: Tom Ford

Love this couple. Best dressed by a mile and looked happy and honored to be there. She looked divine and he scrubbed up well in  morning suit. The best of British ambassadors.
Embed from Getty Images

Stunning Pink Dress

Another favorite pink dress look with beautiful hat. I love the bow sleeve detail which makes this dress more interesting. The flower detail of the hat is so romantic and shouts wedding. Stunning guest.
Embed from Getty Images

Gina Torres

This was another different look, the red lace dress complimented her skin tone exquisitely. I loved the midi length and the high neck. The beading detail and red and white color stopped it from looking frumpy. I also adored the panama style hat she accessorized with, it let the dress be central and spoke to the many women who don’t feel comfortable in a hat. She looked so chic and appropriate. I loved it.

What looks did you love? Do you agree with me? Let me know.

Enjoy the rest of your week.

Fashion Hack – Breaking in new shoes!

by thelifestylelady November 16, 2016

Howdy Y’all,

Sorry it has been a little quiet on TLL this week, I have continued feeling ill. I swear that we are playing football with germs at the moment in the Lifestyle household. I can not say I am on my deathbed but just low grade things which seem to sap my energy, plus honestly I am finding all the negativity surrounding us at the moment a little draining. I am lacking inspiration and creativity. As I mentioned in an earlier post I am not sure what I think about the current election result, if you remove policies and the political element, I have to say I am so disappointed not to see a women elected. Privately as a mother of a daughter I am a little depressed that we have not been able to remove one of the final glass ceilings. It is difficult to say to your daughter that the world is her oyster and that she can be whomever or whatever she wishes because I feel like that is a lie. I do struggle to accept a leader who has verbalized such utter disrespect for women, but I believe everyone makes mistakes and we can all get swept away. Plus my gut tells me that he does respect women. So I pray that now the bravado and razzmatazz of the campaigns are over we can all put on our big girl/boy panties, accept the result and move forwards as much as possible in peace and harmony. After all that is democracy and how lucky are we to have the freedom to vote. I also remind myself how far we as women have come, less that a hundred years ago women could not even vote in the US.

Today I wanted to share with you a hack which works. Are you like me and love to read all the beauty or fashion hacks you can digest? One thing I hate is breaking in new shoes, which is bonkers for a women who loves shoes like TLL. I will tell you a secret, one of the first purchases I made when we moved to the US almost six years ago was a pair of Tory Burch leopard flats. I had always admired them and I was secretly thrilled when I added them to my closet, happy that was until I tried wearing them. Oh golly goodness they were unbearable. I hate blisters (I don’t know anyone who like them!) I think I must have very sensitive feet (I am a delicate petal.) They were so uncomfortable that I was looking to buy other flats with same pattern in a different brand – which is barmey. I love how the Tory Burch ones look on the feet, I thought I wont be beaten and I want to wear them this winter, so I set about finding a hack that would help make them comfortable. I read plenty which involved rubbing alcohol or soaking in water, none which would work with these particular fabric shoes. I then came across one which required a thick pair of socks, a hairdryer and the culprits (uncomfortable shoes.) You are required to warm your socks with the hairdryer for two minutes and then put them on (careful not to burn yourself) and then place said culprits on and wear them around for ten minutes. I was expecting this to be useless but surprisingly it has worked. I intend to do a few more times, but it certainly has made a difference. I always mean to wear them about the house to break them in, but honestly I either forget or by the time I get home the appeal of comfy slippers has the upper hand. So I wanted to share this with you, it is great when we can share things that help or save time, especially in the holiday season.

shoes-tb

Who would have thought that these items could help me never have another blister! Plus these shoes are so cute they must be worn.

sexy-shoes-1

One could never accuse me of being vain for the blog. How sexy is this look? Who cares if it means I can wear these shoes out and about. Plus I have biro marks on my legs from Little L who found great amusement drawing on my legs during her 3 year wellness check today. Whatever keeps the peace #momlife.

I wish you a happy Wednesday.

Fav Gym Wear for Real Women

by thelifestylelady September 16, 2016

Howdy Y’all,

Happy Friday, yes another week bites the dust. I don’t know about where you live but it is still very warm here in Texas, I am lusting after Fall. We are still suffering   living through potty training hell, I make no apologies when I say this is the toughest challenge I have faced in parenting yet. I think we may be seeing glimpses of light at the end of the tunnel (here is hoping Little L does not read this because she will have other plans.) This weekend Mr L is working although we do have a date night planned for Saturday night, I think we will grab a movie and dinner, it will be relaxed (and that is how we like it.) There are so many movies to choose from however, I really want to see The Light Between Oceans I would go as far as to say that is the best book I have read in an age, plus it has Mr Fassbender in it which is a win win. I also want to see the Tom Hanks film Sully, although Mr L is less keen since we are taking a plane soon enough. I will report back on what we choose.

This week has been a week of firsts on the blog, on Wednesday I shared something I never want anyone else to experience,it was very tough to publish but I was overwhelmed by the kind words and messages I received all over social media and email. I am simply happy that it brought comfort to some, resonated with others and more felt it could be used to explain to others how they were feeling. It has been my proudest moment on the blog to date, so thank you. I shall have to be more open more often. Today’s video is another first I am talking about Gym Wear, please do not chuckle into your coffee cups. Since my recent miscarriage I have been trying to find ways to focus on keeping positive, I have found joining a gym, sweating a little really makes me feel better both mentally and physically. I mean those endorphins or dolphins (as Little L calls them) exist. I am never going to be a gym loving, fitness fanatic but I have started a small routine which is helping keep me on the straight and narrow and that is good. So please enjoy.

Happy Weekend

Howdy Y’all!

by thelifestylelady September 1, 2016

Howdy Y’all,

Long time no speak, sorry I have been out of action, but life has been action packed offline this summer. I did think this would be the case,  I don’t want you to think that the blog and you the reader are not important to me, YOU ARE. Actually some of the sadder events this summer have made me realize how important the blog is to me. It is a  creative outlet for me to share myself in another capacity other than wife and mother. It is safe to say that July was my mense horrendam. Just one sad or tough thing after another.  I am not one to let things get me down but sometimes you just get beat.

August was brighter and I was particularly enjoying spending the last quiet weeks with Little L before she started pre-school. So I find myself for the first time in three years with a little more time on my hands and plenty of dreams. One thing I know is that a mum can be very efficient with  limited time without their child, you would be amazed what we can achieve, but I have to be realistic that the dreams probably outweigh the few hours of freedom I find myself with. I do hope to channel some of this freedom in the blogs direction.

If you are familiar with The Lifestyle Lady you will notice some minor changes. The first is a new email subscription request, this will enable you to be notified when new blog posts arrive or I update the blog and also you will receive my newsletter which will contain exclusive content not seen on the blog, (WOW.) I have also been playing with the layout, I’m not totally happy yet so this maybe subject to change once again (but that is a women’s perogative right?!) Finally I list all the ways you can contact and follow me on social media.

Monday Links & Loves

by thelifestylelady February 29, 2016

Howdy Y’all,

Happy Monday, how was your weekend? Good I hope! Full of love, fun and memory making. I had a particularly adult weekend as I went out both Friday and Saturday night. I am quite sure it will take me all week to recover. I do love going out and spending quality time with Mr L and friends. It is only that Little L is unaware of our escapades the next morning when she comes bounding in at 6am.  The words mama and papa had a late night don’t apply to her. I recommend the toddler alarm clock it is very persistent and will get even the most stubborn highnies out of bed. Plus could someone please explain to me the psychic abilities children have? How do they know the particular night they choose to wake several times is when mama has chosen to have that extra cocktail and nightcap!

So this week I caved to peer pressure for the first time in my life. A few of my friends have been using and discussing stitch fix, I have always been reluctant to try this service, mainly because I am tall and I love clothes. I have my style but I have noticed more and more with an energetic toddler and more demands on my time, I have less and less time to follow trends and to find particular cute items to add to my closet. So in the name of “blogging research” (that is what I will tell Mr L) I have requested my first fix. I will report back. I notice that they are branching into maternity and petite so why not check them out.

On the clothing front Little L is becoming more and more the diva about what she wants to wear. Although she has an extensive closet for a two year old, if it is not a tutu or a Princess costume from Frozen you have no chance. Luckily tis the season for the tutu and good old Target has not disappointed. If you want a great gift idea for a two year old gal, tutu all the way.

While on the subject of Target I picked up these really cute colorful pens to write in my planner and calendar, because they have to be pretty am I right? These Bic Velocity are really comfortable to write with, don’t bleed and look so cute,I am sure they will be available in all stationers so check them out.

I am not sure whether I have shared with you before but I am not a tea drinker, which is near on treason for a Brit. Tea is in our DNA. I only started to drink coffee a few years ago. I had been reading for a while about this brand in the UK called Tea Pigs and when home at Christmas I thought I would pick up a box and give it a try, and I’m in love with the Camomile. I need to extend the repetoire, you can buy in the US through Amazon and other suppliers, so if you love herbal teas, give them a try you won’t be disappointed. It is an evening ritual for me now, it’s only missing a chocolate hobnob and my life would be complete.

It is the Academy Awards this evening, honestly I don’t get to follow film like I used to, I am not sure I have seen any of the main movie contenders (how life has changed!) I do love to watch them, mainly the arrivals, and the fabulous dresses, hair and makeup. I love the glamor of it all, I hope Leo does it this year, he has always “been the bridesmaid never the bride.” This could be his year 😉.

I made this meal last week, it was a complete hit, even with Little L. It’s a great week night meal, it requires one pot which means less mess and it is easy enough to prep and cook in sufficient time to all sit round the table together. We try and do this as much as possible, I think it’s so important. I love budget bytes as a site to use for dinner inspiration, go take a look.

Speaking of supper I must finish before Mr L and Little L start moaning about where supper is. Have a great week.

Ta ta for now,

TLL X

Friday’s Fashion Fall Edition – Toddlers at Gap

by thelifestylelady August 28, 2015

Howdy Y’all,

I can not believe that we are nearly out of August! Fall/Autumn are around the corner, which means change of season and change of wardrobe. I will be bracing myself once again to squeeze into my jeans but more exciting, purchasing some new fashion items for Fall. With a toddler that means a whole NEW set of clothing and I always try where possible to get Little L a capsule wardrobe (where items interchange.) I also like to see what shops have on offer and make my decisions based on what will provide the best value, and quite often with children’s clothing it’s not always the cheapest. I have often found the items I have spent more on, have held up better, been worn more and therefore provided the best value. Since I have not done a toddler specific post I wanted to dedicate todays post to the new season for toddlers at Gap. I am not sponsored by Gap and these are my own choices. I do find that many of Little L’s staples come from here and that the clothes really hold up well to a toddler lifestyle. Although I do not have a boy I have also included some of my likes in this seasons collection. So if you’re looking for items which wash well, are hard-wearing, modern, stylish, practical and age appropriate look no further than some of my top picks below!

Happy Viewing

I don’t really share much of my lovely girl but today a costume can speak a 1000 words. She was practically perfect as Mary Poppins. #marypoppins #internationalparade
Sending you love and joy for this holiday season. Merry Merry Christmas & may 2023 be full of good health, abundant blessings and brighter times. 🤶 🎄
Good Morning, please don’t let her words and the other female warriors who came before her be in vain. Don’t just remember her and others by watching the documentaries and passing platitudes, respect them in action. Women died, starved and were tortured so we could have a seat at the table. Some women are still fighting for the right! Let’s honor them today whichever side you fall. Vote!! #vote #vote2020 #suffragette #womensuffrage #election2020
#itsnationaldaughterday Best thing I have ever done, teaches me everyday. Is the world ready for this smart, kind, funny force of nature? She is ready to make her mark and I am her biggest supporter. #love #familylife #daughters #thelifestylelady
Gertie says “where is my drink? I rang the 🛎 ages ago” I think it’s a dogs life. She is taking advantage of the cooler weather after a weekend of storms and before the rain hits again this afternoon. #thelifestylelady #gertiethegoldendoodle #dogslife #takealoadoff #relax #relaxing
Today on the blog I get personal and share the dilemma which too many of us are facing and which is keeping me up at night, what to do when there is no clear direction? As mothers we are meant to have the answers, our children look to us for strength and guidance, what to do when we don’t? Please pop over to www.thelifestylelady.com and have a read and let me know what your planning to do. I know that we are all in this together. Keep safe K x #thelifestylelady #covid19school #school #momlife #schooldilemma #covidschooling
This sums it up. Keep going friends. 2020 has challenged every single one of us in ways we could never comprehend, for some we can’t see any light at the end of the tunnel. Events are demonstrating the best and worst of mankind, if like me your having to make tough decisions about school and what to do, you are not alone. I feel stuck between a brick and a hard place. What I intend to do is what I know, get up, keep going and throw on a bright lip! Keep smiling friends x #thelifestylelady #2020sucks #school
Yesterday we celebrated 10 years of marriage, no mean feat by today’s statistics. It was not the celebration or in the place where we had planned, but if Covid has taught me anything it’s that we are not in charge and can not control everything . It is not the bells and whistles that make the most sacred of memories. I am not one for big declarations of affection (sorry y’all,) I share simply this, I got lucky, I married a man I looked up too and respect. He doesn’t need to tell you what a good egg he is because he demonstrates it in his everyday unassuming way. He is a gentleman in all ways. Our decade has not been all plain sailing, we have moved more than some people vote, we have laughed more than we have cried and there has been reason for both. We had our beautiful daughter and although the path was not as easy or as we imagined we are a family. Life rarely goes the way you plan, case in point currently, but it’s a hell of a lot easier with a partner who is always you greatest ambassador and champion. Love like life is a journey and I am glad to do it with you. Happy Anniversary Mr L! #thelifestylelady #marriage #love #anniversary
With a summer where travel is looking impossible, you feel a little homesick, but Granny to the rescue is sending pics of her beloved garden. One of my favorite things about summer in Britain is the beautiful gardens and my mummy’s is no exception. She has always been green fingered, she will say she is not, but here are some highlights and everything has yet to bloom. Can you sympathize with my yearning for home? #grannysgarden #greenfingers #gardenofengland #gardening #home #thelifestylelady
