Make Up Purge – Part Two Mascara

by thelifestylelady February 12, 2017

make-up-declutter-part-2-mascaraHowdy Y’all,

Happy Monday, how was your weekend? Ours was wonderful the weather here was outstanding. We were not expecting Saturday to be quite as good so we aborted our original plan and instead visited the giant.

img_7839

Little L and I enjoying a selfie with our giant.

I sort of think of him as the mascot, greeting people as they approach the city. Little L loved him, she compared him to the chicken statue that appears near her Uncle Fun’s house, but like they say “everything is big in Texas.” It also reminds her of one of her favorite stories The Spiffiest Giant In Town by Julia Donaldson. If you have not come across her books for children I urge you to do so, they are simply fabulous. If you follow me on Instagram @thelifestylelady you would have seen Little L and I enjoying the rest of Saturday afternoon in the driveway with chalk. Sometimes it is the simple things which can bring the most pleasure.

Mr L and I spent Friday and Saturday evening in one of our favorite ways, catching up on movies which we can no longer go to the movies to see, while enjoying a little wine. Friday night we watched Deepwater Horizon, this is a busman’s holiday movie for Mr L who works in the industry (not BP.)  He had wanted to avoid it because he wondered how it would be portrayed. I felt lucky to be watching with an industry expert because he could really explain some of the science. Emotionally it touched us both so much, the power of nature and negligence.  Saturday night we watched The Accountant, I have a confession I fell asleep half way through and ended up re-watching on Sunday. This was a little action over substance for me, not one of Mr Affleck’s best.  Sunday morning I met up with a Dallas friend who was in Houston for a Bachelorette, it is always great to catch up even  briefly. The rest of Sunday was spent doing my 15 point plan, if you missed that post please click on the link, it has certainly been popular. In continuation of that today I bring you part 2 of my make up declutter which is focusing on mascara. I am sharing with you ones I have liked and loathed and why. Please enjoy

Until next time!

A 15 Point Plan To A Better Week

by thelifestylelady February 6, 2017

a-15-point-plan-to-a-better-week

Howdy Y’all,

Happy Monday. Trust your weekend was good. Mine was lovely, Friday night was fun we had friends in for dinner and thank goodness my pizza worked. I can not tell how relieved I am, I have tried so many different pizza stones and baking sheets and finally Sur La Table came to my rescue, I see many a happy pizza night in our future. I also tried a new cheesecake recipe, this was not a baked, meaning I used gelatin. I have avoided gelatin like the plague because I have always been under the impression it was impossible to work with, I am pleased to say that is utter rot. I will now be making many a non baked cheesecake because I think they are delicious. Would you like me to share the recipe? Saturday was quiet, we took a trip to the park where Little L fell off the climbing frame and I tell you my heart stopped to see her fall so far, she was a little winded and her pride a little hurt but other than that thankfully she was unscathed. On Saturday night Mr L and I had a date night, we did our usual which involves a movie and dinner. We went to see Gold, which was super, Matthew McConaughey was first class, He really transforms himself. An added bonus is Edgar Ramirez and ladies if you do not know of whom I speak I urge you to google you will not be disappointed. A  movie we both enjoyed, we grabbed dinner afterwards at Blue Fish, goodness I love Sushi so great night all round. Now if you are American and have not been living in a cave you will know that Sunday was Super Bowl day in the USA. More importantly it was being held near the city in which I live giving me all the more reason to go to ground.

Today’s post is to talk about my Sunday routine. On reflection I am wondering if this might be better as a video, if you think so please let me know and I will record myself. I am all for making life as organized as possible, I like to put in place systems which make my week run smoother. I often find how effective I am on a Sunday reflects how much “me time” I get throughout the week. I had never really thought about it as a routine until last week when I thought I am repeating these things each week, over time I have added more and I have found my weeks have run smoother, I thought I have to share this. Let me preface these don’t have to be done on a Sunday, it could be done in anytime that suits your lifestyle. If I am busy on Sunday I will just make sure I do it on a Saturday.

  1. Put a washing load on first thing. This is usually for items that I do specifically once a week, Little L’s school nap blanket, my shower accessories, bathroom hand towels etc. Honestly all my laundry is usually done by Sunday as I do at least one load a day.
  2. Do my ironing. Sunday is ironing day I usually do it in front of the TV or YouTube. I love to have my laundry pressed and put away for the new week. I iron my bed sheets, I then place them in the correct rooms ready to be changed for the week ahead.
  3. Check and repack my daughters school bag. Self explanatory.
  4. Lay out her uniform ready for Monday morning and polish her school shoes. This makes the Monday morning start much less stressful and we have invested in her shoes so it is important to take care of them and for her to see me doing so because one day she will be doing it. Have I ever mentioned how much I love a uniform?
  5. Get my dry cleaning ready. I make sure the items are in the bag ready to leave by the front door.
  6. Check and clean out my car. This is a habit I love to do, I take five minutes to open each door of the car reorganize, empty the trash, give it a dust, check stocks, and empty the boot, which is bound to have some drink or cleaning items I had purchased but not placed in the garage. I enjoy doing this and I like my car to look clean and together. I get it cleaned in and out about once a month. It also reminds me to put more credit on my Starbucks card if necessary! Priorities!!
  7. Clean round my washing machine and empty the dryer lint tray. Very self explanatory.
  8. Meal Plan, I love to meal plan mainly because I hate getting to the store and thinking what shall I cook? I have an exercise book where I write my list, this has proved useful when I am in store and not sure if I have purchased something in an earlier week. I also add to the book throughout the week as items need replacing.
  9. Clean out my fridge. This is less regimented now since I have recently taken possession of a new fridge/freezer in my garage which has meant fridge real estate is at less of a premium, never the less this is a great habit to get into. There is nothing worse than a rotting avocado at the back of the fridge.
  10. Sit and arrange my planner, I take five minutes to look at appointments, enter any important information for myself or my family, enter my meals for the week and try to schedule gym time and blogging. I can also check any impending important dates that I might need to order or arrange gifts/cards for.
  11. Delete emails and check admin items. I have a confession I am very bad at deleting junk email, I let it fester. I have added this to my routine to ensure I keep on top of it. I also deal with any returns I may have, get them ready for the post office. I file any coupons I might want or need to use. I clean my electronics with a cleaning wipe, they get filthy especially with toddler fingers.
  12. Clean out my purse and repack for the week ahead. I remember a woman once saying you could tell how organized her life was by the state of her purse, that has stuck with me and I will confess that sometimes on a Friday it can look like a black hole, but I do love taking the time to get rid of receipts and snack wrappers, removing toddler cups and making it look together again. I check it is stocked and ready for those emergencies.
  13. Put a meal in my slow cooker. Often on a Sunday I will cook something in the slow cooker as our meal for Sunday with leftovers for lunch. If I have selected a non slow cooker meal I will make a soup instead. I love to have a home made soup on hand, either for lunches in the week or if a day runs away with me for dinner with toasties.
  14. Tidying and restocking items. I go into each room tidying and restocking, I like to water and feed my plants, restock baby wipes, refill stain remover sprays (trust me we practically drink this stuff I am always spraying rugs or clothes.) I often wiz about refilling coffee pods, the sugar bowl, putting teaspoons near the coffee station anything that will make the mornings run more smoothly. I often try to clean my makeup brushes if time allows!
  15. Bake something either for breakfasts or snack time. This can range from breakfast muffins to natural fruit flapjacks, anything my folks can grab or I can offer if people pop by.

I am aware that this list has made it sound a little laborious, I promise you depending on the size of my ironing pile it never takes more than a couple of hours and saves me so much time in the week ahead. Yes, it may allow me that extra thirty minutes to read a book or nap (no that is total BS I will never get to nap again but a gal can dream!) Do you have a routine? Something that you find makes life run smoother? I am always wanting to perfect it, I am considering adding laying my clothes out the night before and laying the table for breakfast but we shall see. Now I will confess I have weeks where I can not be bothered or we have plans and I don’t get through it all and my weeks don’t run so smooth, so I try really hard to make myself do these things and I confess it gets easier. I often will be doing the routine while wearing a face mask because I love to multi task and I do reward myself on completion with a hot bath and some well deserved me time!

That’s it folk. Enjoy your week.

January Cleaning/Organizing Makeup Purge

by thelifestylelady January 29, 2017

Howdy Y’all,

How are y’all today? Today I need to get back to the gym so that is my mission, I hope not to fail, what are your plans this week? How was your weekend? Mine was good, it started Friday when I went antiquing, it did me good to get out and have a giggle with a friend, I purchased a few small things. Little items for the house. Is that something you might be interested in? I could do a haul, let me know. I love items with a history/story to it, perhaps it is the Brit in me.

On Saturday we had friends to dinner, I was a little disappointed with the pie I made, it didn’t go as well as usual but ho-hey, dessert was good and quite frankly that is the best bit. Sunday was a little quiet which secretly I like, I have a little list of things I like to do on a Sunday to make my week run more efficiently, maybe I will do a post about it.  I have perfected a system which makes me face a new week with a positive outlook. Another little gem was that Mr L got a new car, I secretly love to see him happy, even if I give him a little stick. I am happy to see him enjoying the fruits of his labor. It is well deserved for him, he is always kind and generous to others so I love seeing his uncontrollable smile.

Today’s video is about purging, when I arrived back from the UK part of my rehabilitation was to get the home back in a routine, I love the fresh perspective that some distance from home gives me. I don’t set myself unreliable expectations but slowly cover the areas where I need to sort or purge. Today my video covers makeup in particular face makeup.  This week I want to get sorted on my kitchen going through draws and getting rid of clutter and equipment I don’t need or use, it is so uplifting and cathartic. Wish me luck.

Enjoy your week friends.

Ta Ta for now,

Recipe Organization – My Pink Bible

by thelifestylelady September 29, 2015

Howdy Y’all,

Happy Tuesday. One question I often have been asked is how do I meal plan? When I am out with friends we often quiz each other with “what you cooking for dinner?” One thing I have learnt that does not work (for me at least) is to turn up at the store and think that inspiration will fly out at me from the grocery aisle and say “make me.” Despite knowing this I occasionally find myself in this predicament. I do love to cook, this does not mean I am good at it, or that I love to cook all the time. I should say I love to cook when I’m organized in my life. My mother and grandmother are and were excellent cooks so they set the bar and probably started my interest in cooking . To some the idea of planning and a lack of spontaneity may take the joy out of cooking but for me it is quite the opposite, the more I plan, the more I enjoy. I have meal planned for a while and I am an avid recipe collector. I think I mentioned in an earlier blog I have a bookcase almost exclusively dedicated to cookery and baking. I do very much enjoy looking through the books in the evening and gaining inspiration. I also use websites, Pintrest and I luckily do have food magazine subscriptions. In Casa Lifestyle you will often see print outs or tear out recipes on my coffee table where something has inspired me to try it.

It was several years ago where I found I had a plastic wallet full of recipes I wanted to or had tried and very little order to them. This did not agree with my slightly organized side and my Bible was born. I mean no offense to anyone by referring to it as my Bible. It is a very important file to me. It would probably be in my top ten possessions to save in case of fire. (Fear not Mr L and Little L your above it.) It is a work in progress, I am constantly adding and editing it. It is not neat or beautiful but I think that adds to its authenticity. To me its a little like an old cookbook, I like to see splash marks over the pages it signifies love and usage, my pink Bible is like that. It is a little like me it has swelled and has had to move up a size but it is full of love and memories. I can honestly tell you that I am very proud when my family tell me something tastes delicious and Little L goes “num num num.”

The Pink Bible - special to me x

The Pink Bible – special to me x

I mentioned that my pink Bible is a work in progress. I will explain. I have ten dividers :-

Beautiful handwriting

Beautiful handwriting

  1. Recipes I want to try. If I have a new recipe I wish to try it goes in here. I aim to try at least one from this section once a week. I also cull this section regularly, if something is not a fit out it goes.
  2. Menu Plans. If I have a very successful week, where every meal has been a hit then I will add the plan here. If my week is crazy busy and I have had little or no time to menu plan, I have menus with grocery lists in here where I can grab and go get what I need. I try to use these only in emergencies because I like the discipline of creating new menus each week.
  3. Everyday Meals Meat. To make it into this section, the recipe will be tried, tested and loved. These are recipes I know how to cook and will be a hit. They are scruffy and covered in notes where I have added comments to remind me what works better. This applies to all the following sections.
  4. Everyday Meals Fish and Veg. Similarly to meat to make it to this section the recipes are much-loved. Fish is loved in this house but I am married to a carnivorous male who enjoys meat and fish, so vegetarian meals have to “cut the mustard” so those recipes are good.
  5. Everyday Meals Slow Cooker. My favorite section especially at this time of year. I have been asked lots of questions about slow cooking and I promise to do some blog posts about it.
  6. Starters. These next sections relate more to entertaining or special occasions, like the rest, a collection of recipes that work.
  7. Entertaining Mains. These recipes tend to be more complex or extravagant than everyday but they are ones I have used and work very well. This is a great idea if you have unexpected guests or recipes you can lend to friends.
  8. Desserts. Who doesn’t love a pudding, we don’t have them very often but occasionally if entertaining or on a Sunday I might whip something up and I have a much treasured collection.
  9. Baking. I actually have baking books with recipes that I am loyal too but I have occasionally found one or two that I have found tried and loved and they go in here.
  10. Holiday Cooking. This is full of recipes relating to holidays that I have tried and love. This is ever-expanding. Halloween cookies, pecan pie etc. I am including lots of my new US finds in here.

So that is how I arrange and organize my recipes. Do you do similar things? Do you have a system that works better? I will explain in another blog post how I actually plan meals. I also find that this system would benefit you, if you are a coupon lover or if you use the store flyers to plan your meals. Fresh produce can soon add up so having a collection of recipe means that you have something that works when pork loins are on special or there is a great price on fillet steak. I also enjoy the familiarity of it. I will share with you a little secret, it is my ambition to create a file full of recipes Little L loves so that when she flies the nest I can duplicate and give it to her and she can share with her family. I have several recipes in my file which belong to my mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and take comfort in handing these on.

I will blog soon on how I actually plan my weekly meals.

Ta Ta for now.

Sometimes a much-loved recipe will be typed, printed and laminated. (God I love a laminator.) This is often when I have shared it with others or it has been destroyed by my messy cooking style :0)

Planning My Life – The Simplified Planner

by thelifestylelady August 6, 2015

Howdy Y’all,

So I talked about my love of Emily Ley’s Simplified Planner, it has been one of those purchases that has made me very happy. Until last week I was using this,

Simplified Planner

Sorry for the shadows folks – learning at this photography. My beautiful HAPPY STRIPE

This was her 2015 – 2016 Simplified Planner daily edition in happy stripe, which I have loved. This year Emily decided to change how her planners operated and created the 18 month planner which started Aug 1 2015- Dec 31 2016. I think this is a great idea as I often want to plan things into the new year, well before the dramatics of the festive season and this will allow for that. This year Emily also created the weekly edition which I felt would be a better fit for me. As a SAHM I do not require the daily page to write down my huge commitments and thought the weekly view would suit my lifestyle better. I was also slightly hesitant to have a daily 18 month planner. I thought it would be huge, and although my planner seldom leaves my desk I still like to travel with it. Now one thing about these planners is they have a cult following, getting your hands on one is no small task. My initial plan was to replace my daily happy stripe with the weekly happy stripe, well while on her website I procrastinated too long and the weekly happy stripe had sold out. (Yes I was very disappointed.) In the end I chose this.

Mini Dot

Mini Dot – Better get planning!

I believe the official title is Weekly Planner Mini Dot. In true Emily style, the item was shipped efficiently and arrived beautifully packaged.

IMG_5554

Classy package

This box is lovely, I am a huge fan of navy and it is a great way to store the previous years planner. (Which I tend to keep for the following 12 months, incase I need to check dates etc.) It is also a classy touch to package elegantly. Every year Emily always adds a thank you and information on  the planner. I think as her brand explodes it is still very clear to see she care deeply for the product and the role it plays in her life.

IMG_5555

Notes to accompany the planner

All parts of the product scream quality. Whether it is the gold ring binder, which is a lovelier color this year, or the gold reinforced corners which are a plus especially if you cart your planner around or have a toddler who loves to drop it. The monthly tabs are colorful, (which matches the happy stripe beautifully.) They are also reinforced so they are less likely to get damaged.  Not sure how clearly you can see them in the below photograph. The inside page has a pocket which is super for holding loose invites, coupons, stickers and other knickknacks.

IMG_5559

Inside Cover

I also find the monthly overview a great feature, it enables me to plan for birthdays, bills, trips and other excitements as a whole and can see where I may have schedule gaps or time off (do not be a fool!)

Monthly View

Monthly View

The weekly feature will take some getting use to, it does not have times allocated which at first I did not like and I am now beginning to love because it means the space is more productive to my schedule. It still leave the gap for meal planning which is an excellent feature, especially for a young mummy who is often too tired to consider dinner planning at 9am. I like her weekly prep Sunday checklist (which I will blog about in more detail on another occasion.) I enjoy the weekly inspirational quotes, I must confess one or two of the authors I am not acquainted with so I get educated by google in the process.

Weekly View

New Weekly View

How much can one person say about a planner other than it is a positive addition to my life. I would have loved the happy stripe but I will learn to love the mini dot and it is by no means ugly. I have lots of Emily’s products and hope to blog about those in the future. Her website is definitely worth a look and the blog section is inspiring.

Happy Planning

August Organization- Join Moi?

by thelifestylelady July 31, 2015

Hi Y’all

Firstly sorry for the blogging drought, this week seems to have been crazy with very little reason. So who spring cleans? By this I mean who goes through the house purging, organizing and sprucing. A spring clean has always made me stop and take stock. It is a reason to go through draws and cupboards and rearrange, remove or recycle items. Living in a place where we get very hot summers, August always seems to work better for me than the spring, after all who wants to be inside sorting when you could be enjoying the outside. So for the past few years August has been my sort out month. Now before I sound all Martha Stewart, whether its August or January time is limited, if you are like me who has a toddler whose idea of fun is to wreck everything, the time to go through cupboards and draws is reduced. How am I getting round this I hear you scream? Firstly I’m going to delegate (something I sometimes find difficult.) This year I have given Mr L two of the main areas to focus his energy, mainly because their his items and I do not want to throw his stuff out, until he tries. Secondly I am having a more focused approach and only tackling achievable projects which need doing. I did this by going round the house assessing what really needed sorting. I then took the list and decided the key areas were, the garage, the office, our closet, my makeup cabinet, the larder, the top of the fridge and the laundry cupboard. These are not major projects as both Mr L and I are fairly organized people and we like our home to reflect this, however even the most organized people let things slip. It is much easier to put things away and keep your home looking well-kept if your cupboards and closets are well-arranged.

Over the next few weeks as time allows I will tackle these projects and will share the results on the blog. I am hoping that one or two of you might want to join me? It doesn’t have to be a month-long slog, but do you have a draw in your kitchen, you know a “junk draw” which holds screwed up takeout menus, the odd key (which you don’t know what it belongs to but can’t throw it out.) Screws and other odds and sods. Or maybe its a shelf stuffed with cookbook, or a broken binder with recipes coming out, or a draw full of old phones and leads. Whatever it is, why not take 20 mins, could even be while watching TV, join me and sort it out. We can all move into the Autumn with a cleaner and better organized home which always make TLL feel SO much better.

So please share with me photos and comments of you doing your sorting.

Ta ta for now.

High Five Monday- things that make my life easier

by thelifestylelady July 20, 2015

It is Monday and we all need a little pick me up. It is the end of the weekend (they always go too fast – don’t they?) plus I always wake on a Monday never as well rested as I plan to be, even if I went to bed early enough. I blame this time trauma on always worrying about over sleeping, an issue I care less and less about as the week progresses ;0) So this week I thought I would write about five items which make my life easier and the LL is all in favor or those.

1. Steve Jobs – well more my iPhone… You are probably thinking BORING & OBVIOUS first choice, I would agree, although my phone has all these wonderful apps, bells and whistles designed to make my life super wonderful, but it is the video function I thank Steve Jobs for. The Apple crew have saved me many a tantrum by Little L. They have rescued this mummy from many a palm sweating – in a fact whole body sweating, heart palpitating – panic attack when I can whip out my phone like super-mama and offer a wide selection of Disney Jnr or PBS, which is often met with the words “Dan Dan” (but that is another blog post.) High five Apple thank you.

Lifesaver

Lifesaver

2. My Simplified Planner by Emily Ley, this is pure and simply my Bible. I promise to blog about my Bible at a later date but this planner keeps me on the straight and narrow and that is no mean task. All Emily’s products are wonderful and this is the jewel in the crown. Since I had Little L my concentration and memory has not returned to what it was. Lucky me. Mr L tells me I am getting old, but I maintain (with my extensive medical qualifications) that it is hormone-related. So I find this planner is essential to remember who and where I am meant to be. High five Emily – thank you.

Simplified Planner

3. My Ringly – I hear you ask what? Yes this beautiful emerald cocktail ring (a gift from Mr L) flashes and vibrates on my finger when my phone is receiving a call, what’s app, email, or text. You can set it to alert you to whatever you want. I will blog more about this fab item but needless to say it has helped keep me connected, which can be difficult when you are running around after a toddler. High five Ringly- thank you.

Ringly

4. Nespresso Machine – if the adverts with George Clooney have not driven you to try this, then I hope this blog post does. Now I mentioned in an earlier post that I didn’t drink coffee till I was thirty. Well, this machine has helped me make up for lost time. I will admit Mr L is something of a coffee expert, so it is down to him that we have this wonderful item. But, needless to say, it gives me many a high at the correct spot when I need it, and has saved this mummy from many an exhausted meltdown. It’s yummy! High five Nespresso – thank you.

Nespresso

5. Barrington – one thing that scared me about becoming a mummy was that I would lose all identity and never have time for myself. I have always tried to look presentable; that is not always the case but emphasis on the word “try”. I love a handbag/purse; my collection could have a blog of its own and when I got my first diaper bag I thought that’s it’s “collection over” and for the first twelve months that was the case. Now that Little L is a little bigger I am going back to my purses and was absolutely ecstatic when I found this company. Again, I will blog in more detail later on but, needless to say, these bags are roomy, stylish and able to carry everything mama and toddler need. Making my life so much easier in a stylish way – love that. High five Barrington – thank you.

Lifesaver

Lifesaver

These items are not a definitive list; I have many more things that help, but these were a few. What makes your life easier? What do you love? Get in touch!

Happy Monday

Ta to for now

18 Friday’s Till Christmas

by thelifestylelady July 19, 2015

When Mr L asked me last night what would be my next blog topic I explained I genuinely did not know. I have some backup ideas and hope some of you reading this will shout out the sort of content you would like; but what I see inspires me.  Low and behold this morning, as I checked my phone and the Facebook app, inspiration appeared like a water fountain in the Sahara.

Get ready

Get ready

Yes you read it in black and white (with a weird-looking elf.) Now for some this may seem way off, when you rationalise it is over four months, but 18 Friday’s did make my heart skip a beat this morning. Now I LOVE Christmas, everything about it, the preparations, food, wine, friendship, charity, music, literally everything. I’m writing this thinking about mulled wine and mince pies (to my US readers I will blog about sweet mince pies nearer December.) I know I am ahead of the game with this blog about Christmas because none of the Christmas ads or infomercials have arrived on TV (they will be very quickly) and I do this out of kindness, especially for those amongst us who may leave everything till the last momento. In the L household, prior to marriage (so when I was a young LL living in UK with my parents) the mad Christmas rush was limited to the 23rd of December, as on Christmas Eve the greatest arrival came in the form of my mummy L, my creator and baker. So we always had to be ultra organized. I have always felt sort of sorry for those people who have birthdays so close to Christmas. You wait all year for your gifts, but for mama L, having me as a daughter was gift enough and I wont even start about bro L!

So I write this to you all so you can write your lists. For the readers amongst us who have lots to buy, you could take advantage of some of the super-duper sales on offer at the moment. For the cooks and bakers amongst us, you could bake your cake and pudding so they get ultra mature and yummy. For those of you appalled by this post, speaking of Christmas in July, why not pay tribute to the festival by having a little shot of Grand Marnier or Sherry, or ordering a turkey sandwich, or watch your go-to Christmas movie/film.

After all, only 18 Friday’s to go. I’m off list-making, flight-booking and checking on mummy L who may well be panicking ;0)

ABOUT ME

ABOUT ME

I don’t really share much of my lovely girl but today a costume can speak a 1000 words. She was practically perfect as Mary Poppins. #marypoppins #internationalparade
Sending you love and joy for this holiday season. Merry Merry Christmas & may 2023 be full of good health, abundant blessings and brighter times. 🤶 🎄
Good Morning, please don’t let her words and the other female warriors who came before her be in vain. Don’t just remember her and others by watching the documentaries and passing platitudes, respect them in action. Women died, starved and were tortured so we could have a seat at the table. Some women are still fighting for the right! Let’s honor them today whichever side you fall. Vote!! #vote #vote2020 #suffragette #womensuffrage #election2020
#itsnationaldaughterday Best thing I have ever done, teaches me everyday. Is the world ready for this smart, kind, funny force of nature? She is ready to make her mark and I am her biggest supporter. #love #familylife #daughters #thelifestylelady
Gertie says “where is my drink? I rang the 🛎 ages ago” I think it’s a dogs life. She is taking advantage of the cooler weather after a weekend of storms and before the rain hits again this afternoon. #thelifestylelady #gertiethegoldendoodle #dogslife #takealoadoff #relax #relaxing
Today on the blog I get personal and share the dilemma which too many of us are facing and which is keeping me up at night, what to do when there is no clear direction? As mothers we are meant to have the answers, our children look to us for strength and guidance, what to do when we don’t? Please pop over to www.thelifestylelady.com and have a read and let me know what your planning to do. I know that we are all in this together. Keep safe K x #thelifestylelady #covid19school #school #momlife #schooldilemma #covidschooling
This sums it up. Keep going friends. 2020 has challenged every single one of us in ways we could never comprehend, for some we can’t see any light at the end of the tunnel. Events are demonstrating the best and worst of mankind, if like me your having to make tough decisions about school and what to do, you are not alone. I feel stuck between a brick and a hard place. What I intend to do is what I know, get up, keep going and throw on a bright lip! Keep smiling friends x #thelifestylelady #2020sucks #school
Yesterday we celebrated 10 years of marriage, no mean feat by today’s statistics. It was not the celebration or in the place where we had planned, but if Covid has taught me anything it’s that we are not in charge and can not control everything . It is not the bells and whistles that make the most sacred of memories. I am not one for big declarations of affection (sorry y’all,) I share simply this, I got lucky, I married a man I looked up too and respect. He doesn’t need to tell you what a good egg he is because he demonstrates it in his everyday unassuming way. He is a gentleman in all ways. Our decade has not been all plain sailing, we have moved more than some people vote, we have laughed more than we have cried and there has been reason for both. We had our beautiful daughter and although the path was not as easy or as we imagined we are a family. Life rarely goes the way you plan, case in point currently, but it’s a hell of a lot easier with a partner who is always you greatest ambassador and champion. Love like life is a journey and I am glad to do it with you. Happy Anniversary Mr L! #thelifestylelady #marriage #love #anniversary
With a summer where travel is looking impossible, you feel a little homesick, but Granny to the rescue is sending pics of her beloved garden. One of my favorite things about summer in Britain is the beautiful gardens and my mummy’s is no exception. She has always been green fingered, she will say she is not, but here are some highlights and everything has yet to bloom. Can you sympathize with my yearning for home? #grannysgarden #greenfingers #gardenofengland #gardening #home #thelifestylelady
